Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I check my citizenship application status?
Log in to your IRCC online account at ircc.canada.ca. Go to 'View my submitted applications or profiles' and find your citizenship application. The current status is displayed there.
How often should I check my status?
Once a week is sufficient. Status updates happen infrequently — usually only a few times during the entire process. Checking daily won't make it go faster, but it's understandable if you do.
My status says 'In process' — what does that mean?
Your application is being reviewed by IRCC. This is the longest stage and can last several months. It means your file has been received and is in the queue for processing.
How do I contact IRCC about my citizenship application?
Use the IRCC web form at ircc.canada.ca or call 1-888-242-2100 (within Canada). Have your UCI (Unique Client Identifier) and application number ready. Response times vary.
